News letter 30th August. 2020 last couple of days of Woman month.
Thursday evening are taking a break till Thursday the 1st of October.
In the meantime, I am getting ready for audio files. The idea is that the Chapters of the stories will have an audio file for those who don’t have time to read long posts. I hope there will be Audio files for the stories, poems, and the chapter commentary on the stories. That is my long term plan anyway.
I am still editing the Chapter on Shadow. It became more involved than I originally thought as usual. However, I did create two diagrams of the Psyche of the relationship between Ego and Shadow. I have posted them below.
At the beginning of the month, we began the focus on women for women’s month. Moist poignant we should have started with the “Frog Bride” story. Which in a way describes the status quo’s relationship to women, children, and the planet.
The other great story for women’s month is Jack and the Bean Stalk for women’s day and the essay on violence in our culture.
Or Just the whole Jack and the Beanstalk story the Moon Palace story and The Star Women story.
Spring is around the corner here, early perhaps this year, green shoots on our Oak tree, buds on the apple tree, new growth in the rose bushes. The Weaver birds a bright yellow, their courting plumage, and the climbing rose is in flower.
We have worked through the Pin or the Maiden Tzar story, Absent fathers, stepmother, false tutors, loss of Soul, three witches, Firebirds, swans and eggs. Notes on these items on the website under the story section. We moved deeper into the story of the Frog Bride last week. We also began to unpack Jack and the Bean Stalk. We spoke the two poems linked below into the world, for all those whose voice is not heard, we linked that voice that throat to the Firebird of the Soul within us.
We also did the Frog Bride extensively. and Kashchey the deathless, and faced our own mortality in retrieving our own Soul from the underworld.
In this time of COVID what practical use are storytellers? Stories can restore us to our center, They allow us to step outside of time and connect with the eternal, allows us a different perspective. They don’t change the outer world, but they can change our reaction (re-act) to them. I know there is fear in some folks around death, Death is not the end just the end of our journey here, it is, however, a portal into the next journey. As birth was a portal into this world.
Is My Soul Asleep? Antonio Machado’s poem “Is My Soul Asleep?”
Is my soul asleep?
Have those beehives that work
in the night stopped? And the water-
wheel of thought, is it
going around now, cups
empty, carrying only shadows?
No, my soul is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
It neither sleeps nor dreams, but watches,
its eyes wide open
far-off things, and listens
at the shores of the great silence.
Enjoy and be safe. Love and Hugs Sam.
