For those who did find a copy of “The Four Agreements” will have noticed the concept of domestication is highlighted in the book. Domestication is the indoctrination of the Status-quo that we all begin life with. Now as adults, we begin the journey to allow Soul to speak to us and through our actions. This was the old idea of Initiation and Rites of passage. Boys and men are hungry for real rites of passage, women as well though women’s bodies also initiate them, boys/men not so much. This tension between the Status-quo and Soul is highlighted in the Iron John Story. Wildness vs Domestication and caging wildness in the first book. The return to Soul, our inner self, is the part that reveals our purpose in this life and keeps presenting life’s opportunities to fulfill our mission. That is the medicine and the gift we carry for each other.
